Power requirments of MSI GTX560

Is it deffinatally 2 x 6 pin plugs that the card needs?

My PSU is a *cough* hiper 530w.
Ive had it for quite a few years so its well tested.

I hear about the card needing a 12v line at a certain amperage, whats that about?

I think ill stick with the msi 560GTX. Can anyone recommend a decent brand PSU that will be adequate for the 560GTX? Only have 1 HDD 7200rpm, 4 gig ram, Q8200 and two case fans.

Im on a very small budget, cheaper the better.

Hi Bushmins, I have the same issue as you in relation to the 1 x 6pin power lead from my PSU. I've been looking at upgrading my system and also liked the look of the 560GTX as well (details of thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18315374 )

However I just opened up my pc last night and discovered that i only have 1x 6 pin lead (I too have Hiper 570W PSU) but I suppose it was lucky in a way as i was just about to order the 560 GTX!

Can anyone advise if there is any way a PSU like ours can support a GFX card which requires 2 x 6 pin plugs?

If not and we are stuck with cards that only support 1 x 6 pin have you considered this 6850 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-115-MS&tool=3 can anyone confirm that this requires just the 1x6 pin plug??

UPGRADE the psu unless you like big explosions(ok so over exaggeration there) ;)

this or this if you want a little more head room for upgrade.

Thanks fowler002 I would upgrade my PSU but I had a look inside my PC and I don't think I would be able to do all the required re-wiring for a new PSU myself.

hopefully the current one will do me another 12 months or so until I get new system
