Power Save Message! Help!

My Friends 'Dell' PC has been boxed up for approx 1 year and now when he puts it on he keeps getting a message saying something like

"The PC is in Power Save mode press any button to continue!"

He has replaced the Motherboard battery but still the same! Any ideas? Not sure what model the Dell PC is. Thanks
 
That's odd. Id have thought the forced cmos reset of replacing the battery would solve this.

When does the message turn up? I presume it's after post, so it could well be that the operating system has become confused. If booting from a CD, I take it the system works normally? Try an ubuntu livecd to diagnose whether the hard drive is the issue or not
