Power saving options coming in when not wanted.

Essentially ^ that is the problem.

Whenever I watch a movie or maximise any of my media applications the screen saver, and then the screen shutdown functions kick in.

Before hand it would avoid such actions until the very end of the playlist/file being played. It happens with both VLC and MPC HC. I haven't changed any of their settings or Window's power saving options either. It's only started to do this recently.

Now, I have unselected and reselected the "disable screensaver" option in VLC but to no avail?

Can anybody help? It's quite annoying as you can imagine, and bar increasing the time to 3 hours or something I can't think of a work around.

I stopped using VLC on my laptop because the screensaver would come on no matter what. Since then I tend to switch between two power modes anyway - High Performance for when watching video and Balanced for any other time. My HP setting turns nothing off, dims nothing, and doesn't have a screensaver.

I've noticed this too. It doesn't happen with WMC though, so it may be MS changing the way it works in 7 and the 3rd party progs haven't caught up yet.

I guess you'll have to try change the power settings to make sure everything is always on. I usually do this and sleep the system manually or just turn my monitor off manually.
