Well, I brought my PC back from standby ok. It gave me a message, in windows that there had been a power serge and that my camera has expericenced over it's max power rating and has been stopped.

Now two of my USB ports, (atm - haven't restarted yet) don't work.

I haven't checked the mobo yet, but I'm getting worried.

Say it is the mobo, do you think I'll be able to RMA it? I hope it isn't installing my C2D the first time was hard enought with this ninja-sycth.

Ok they are working now, but should i be worried? I have my PC plugged into a surge protector and this is the first time I'v come across this error...

hi,

this happend to an old computer of mine when i accidentally shorted the usb port whilst getting my parralel lcd working, check your camera lead for shorting, apart from that i dont know what it is.

:) its not too much to worry about. All it means is the device plugged in to the USB port has tried to use more power than the port can provide. The ports then shut down until the PC is restarted (or you restart them in device manager) to stop the device from damaging itself or the mobo.

Sometimes, little things can cause it so its not to much to worry about and shouldnt have any lasting effects.

Happenned to me, killed a new 1gig very budget usb memory stick within a few days of getting it :(

We had some branches calling in with this error appearing on their tills. Turned out to be a faulty batch of barcode scanner cables that were shorting out.

Hmmm. Could be my webcam usb cable, I have it pluged into an extension (usb), I'll remove that I think.

Cheers lads.
