heres what my specs r gonna look like:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.33GHz (1333FSB)
EVGA nForce 650i Ultra (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OcUK GeForce 8600 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
2 GB (2 x 1gb) 667 ram
160 gb sata hdd
40 gb IDE
16x IDE DVDrw
+3 fans on case

think i can get away with a 450w psu, found an offer on another site 450w for £25

so can an underpowered psu potensially damage my components???
cuz i didnt want to spend too much on one cuz its kinda exeeding me budget :(

mayb 500w....

If you are trying to save some money go for the Corsair VX 450 instead. Plenty of power for that rig and only cost's £43 odd.

Never ever skimp on the psu as eventually you will regret it. Like when it blows up and takes the rest of your rig with it.

You could always get the E2180 instead which clocks amazingly well.

how bout these???

i notice ** all going for the trustable brand Corsair, the one i was lookin at on this other site is made by X-Power, another alternative i found was made by iCute

so is it really wattage i should b looking at or is branding important?

Problem is the cheapy unknown branded named PSUs never live up to the actual voltage/wattage advertised. So to be safe you should buy within a well known brand to ensure your computers safety. A dodgy PSU can cost you an utter fortune, don't skimp on it!

im not sure... but i think the 300w psu im using in this p4 pc i got now is an antec and that aint let me down yet. does ne1 trust this brand :)

Corsair psu's are made by Seasonic so you are getting quality there and they also give you a 5yr warranty even on the cheaper VX series.

Antec are a good make but 300w will not be enough for your new rig.

As already said, cheapo psu's will hardly ever deliver their supposed output and when they fail are more likely to take something with it. Then you will wish you got a decent one in the first place. £43 is really not a lot for a Corsair VX 450w.

neway back to the psu, looking at that OcUK Huntkey its highly rated by other buying so it should b up2 the job?....shouldnt it?

only thing im wonderin if i get a 550w is that too much power or do components just use what they need?
