Power Socket On Mobo

Just bought put my new computer together and noticed that the Power socket on the motherboard is longer than the psu plug.

So what i was wondering is whether it will work without the full length socket or might it damage something?

20 pin plug and 24 pin socket?

It'll be fine to use the shorter plug in it. The clip should still line up fine and it should slot straight in.

Thanks, so why are they longer now then, for more power hungry systems?

Think i'll be buy a psu next week anyway but im interested to see how Cubase 64bit works with 8gb of mem
