Power Steering Problem

Hi,

I have a sort of problem in the Rover, just trying to fully diagnose it to see if it's worth fixing as the problem can be avoided. I shall explain...

On a cold engine at full lock the car is fine, you know you can push full lock a little bit more, perhaps 1-2cm more play in the wheel? well if I do that I get a nasty schreeking noise.

Had a fiddle today and found that on full full lock the PAS belt stops and the pulley on the crank is rubbing against the belt which the belt goes round. The Rover engine just has it's own belt espescially for PAS.

What would cause this to happen?

The obvious cure is to not whack it full full lock but I am selling the car to my mate and said I would sort out as many things as possible (hence been spraying a wing all day).

Any advice appreciated,

Chris

There is another wheel, not sure if it's a tensioner or a pulley.

The fluid is a tiny bit below the min. line.

I think I will take some out the Mondeo and stick it in the Rover.
