Heya chaps, I have a PSU that I have had for a year now and its a Modular PSU where you connect only the wires needed.

I have been looking at some components for a mates machine but these same "Modular" power supplies now have all the wires hardwired into the unit.

Did these things change over the years or is there something I am missing.

Also I noticed now there are "Fully Modular" PSU's out there now ???

Some models have one PCI-E, the 8 pin for cpu and the main 24 pin ATX connector hard wired into the unit with the molex and SATA power connections modular, dearer models tend to be fully modular.

The model you linked to is not modular as such, 'semi-modular' would be a more accurate item description TBH. However, the 'semi-modular' models have the most commonly used leads for a PC hard wired to the PSU.

I'm not sure if they've change over the years but I know we have semi-modular psus (like the tx750m you linked) that have the core cables for motherboard etc hard wired and then have fully modular psus like the one you have and what you tend to picture when you think of "modular" :)

There is only really modular and Semi modular.

With semi modular virtually everyone will use the main ATX Connector & 12v for cpu power and probably least one PCI-E power. User then can add a second PCI-E cable if needed and any Molex and SATA leads needed.
