To save on Electric Build? Or would the 1200 w PSU I run at present cost the same to run In Electric units/hr.
I guess that the components would not draw any more power and It cost the same to run??

Your components will only draw as much power as they need - so your electric costs should stay more or less the same. The wattage listed for a PSU only denotes the maximum it is able to provide - it does not draw that all the time.

Depending on the efficiency rating of your current PSU you might save a little money by upgrading to a more efficient one however. i.e. going from 80plus bronze to gold / platinum for example should net you a small saving in the long term. I am not sure how much though

The PSU there is a Bronze rated PSU, maybe worth looking at some of the Super Flower Gold/Platinum PSUs. That would help in the long run if you are looking to save money.

I have run a spec which draws more power than yours will on a 650W PSU before. :)

So your 1200W unit is very much overkill, however downsizing your PSU will make little to no difference unless you invest in a Gold/Platinum rated unit. But then the energy usage difference will probably be so slight that it would take a long time to cover the outlay.

I wouldn't bother. If you need to save money, look at how else you could do it. :)

Thanks I will keep it for now. We have his and hers gaming pc's which must be like running an electric fire all evening and weekend thats all lol.

Just to give you a rough idea of power consumption, my pc (spec in siggy) pulls a max of 422w at the wall while gaming (depending on the game) and the max I can make it pull is just over 450w and only by loading the gpu and cpu at 100% both at the same time. Something you will never do in real usage.

Agreed, hefty oc on the setup in sig and in games the most ive seen at the wall was 650w. Benching firestrike extreme did peak at 740w but that was very briefly on the combined test.
