Basically over the last few months (Since building my new rig) I have been having problems with my graphics card. When i run a game like crysis or anything that will get the card going I get a black screen as the drivers reboot.

This makes games unplayable. Now my card is a BFG 8800GT OC2, and the driver that is resetting is nvlddmkm.sys.

There are a huge amount of theoretical causes for this problem which I have tested.

I have used 6 seperate types of whql driver on 2 fresh installs, I have cleaned the pc out. I have underclocked the card etc etc etc.

So my question is could this error be caused by my power supply?

I have a Collermaster Real Power m620. It says it has a maximum output of 700W.

I never had a problem with the card whilst on q6600 at 3.4GHz on a Striker Extreme.

It has been playing up since I have had an i7 at 4GHz on a Rampage 2 Extreme.

(I have also tried the card with no overclocking at all on the whole system)

1. Have you thoroughly tested stability of your new overclocked PC?

2. Have you tested card in another PC?
(card being factory overclocked might have damaged something in it with the passing of time)

Thanks for the reply :D

Yeah I tested everything for stability and even tested the card with no OC at all.

I haven't had a chance to test the card in someone elses PC just yet, was going to ask a friend this week.

Does a small power supply sound like a likely cause at all?

The psu is more than enough for your rig, but psu can course strange things to happen. Can you try another pci-e slot on the motherboard, Have tried mem-test and prime to check the rest of your system.

Yeah I have tested everything else in the PC and it's all fine :(

The error only occurs when the card is stressed ie explosions in GTA 4 or crysis on very high in general ^^

Maybe your graphics sard is on it's way out. Oh and just out of curiosity, why (and how) are you playing crysis on v. high with that GPU?

Sorry I just meant if i put it under a lot of strain it will crash out on me, I think you may be right by the way. I've been playing around with it a lot and as soon as it hits 85 it crashes out which is probably about right but it is hitting 85 far too easily ...
