I need a new power supply, have had a look around and like the look of the Atrix 650watt blue transparent, but also the **** value 550 ATX psu Gold,as well as the colors- IT 500watt Gold silent PSU. Anybody know if these are any good, or any better one's for under £30? looking at 500- 650 watts.

£30 = fail for PSUs. Unless it's a low-value, old machine, get a decent £50 unit by Corsair or someone.

General opinion around here is 'Don't skimp on what's powering your £/$*** rig'

As asked, provide PC specs because probably don't need that much.

I've made the mistake of going cheap on PSUs in the past to my detriment.
Work out the size you NEED, then add 10-20% for good measure, then find that size under a good reputable brand.

I bought a 550w Antec True Power for my P4 3Ghz and 6600GT AGP system back a few years ago thinking I needed that much back then.... it's now happily powering an overclocked 3Ghz Q6600, an ATI HD4850, 4 Green HDD and DVD Writer, plus a half dozen or so fans..... it still has plenty of headroom. I didn't need that much power afterall

cheers for the info, i thought i might not need that much power, though was just looking at from a few years down the line when I'll probably upgrade CPU, Motherboard, extra HDD, optical readers, graphics card's etc. so thought if get a decent power Wattage now wont hopefully have to buy new one again when i did upgrade. Just a thought. My machine spec is AMD x2 64 4200+,1 DVD drive and HDD, Hopefully 4Gb Ram and ATi HD4650 Graphics Card, Current PSU is 250 watts.

Based on that spec you only need around 250W, allowing for 80% efficency that 315W or there-abouts.

I'd say something like a corsair VX450 would do you for now and would have a little room for upgrades.

The output listed is the power given after efficiency is taken into account.

I.E if the PSU gives out 400w to the components, at 80% efficiency you take 520W out the wall.
But it's sold as a 400W PSU.

Looks good that Corsair VX450, But it's out of my budget.:(

Then you need to increase your budget. The cheapest psu that i would recommend on here is the Antec Earthwatts 380w and that is just over £43. Do not skimp on the psu. If a cheapo psu fails it is likely to take some other components with it.
