I had an AMD Athlon 2800+ with 1GB ram and an ATI Radeon x700 256mb ram. I managed to fry the processor so I upgraded to an AMD Athlon 64 3200+. Since installing the new components my x700 would only run on 800x600. If I tried to up the settings it would blank the screen. Could Power supply be the problem as Im using a basic 300w which came with my case? Or would the gfx card just be dead? Im currentley using an ATI Radeon 9600 borrowed from a friend. I dont want to buy a new GFX card if power is the problem. Cheers.

The X700 won't be dead if it's still displaying something. I take it with the 9600 that you can force into higher resolutions? If so, it seems like power could be the problem, although it's a slightly odd symptom. Maybe a reformat/reinstall is in order?
