So I was having some problems. My PC would just turn off. I could instantly turn it back on. It didn't come up with any errors and it only ever happened when I played L4D2. I could play any other games (BC2, MW2, etc) without it doing this. I just assumed that it was the graphics card overheating so I took the side off to try and get a little more air in.

Last night it happened for a second time and the computer wouldn't do anything. I turned the switch on the back on and off and after hearing a little "Pooofff" sound and tried turning it on the LED panel on the front of the case would flash, no fans would come on. Nothing. I have an ASUS M2N-E and there is a green light on there, however, I can't check what that means until a bit later.

I'm assuming that its the power supply. It's a 520W one that came in my "Atrix High End PC" case. So do you guys agree with that?

Also, since I will have to buy a new one. What reliable power supplies are there that are a bit cheaper than Corsair? I'm upgrading this summer to an AMD system (possibility with SLI), so something around 650/750W but trying to keep the cost down.

Thanks a lot. :)

If you are upgrading to a new gpu, especially if you're thinking of cross-fire, then to my mind it is wortha couple of extra quid on a decent power supply?

Just don't skimp too much on the power supply, it's one item you really don't want to go wrong. It's worth paying a little bit extra for a Corsair, Seasonic or similar quality unit.

I would recommend the Corsair TX 650W. It's not too expensive (bearing in mind Corsair PSUs are very good quality) and is more than powerful enough for your needs. As wozzizname has said, as long as it's a good quality brand like Corsair or Seasonic, then you should be okay.

Hmmm... yeah. I didn't want to go too expensive while still getting something reliable. I'll ring the parents later and tell them I'll take it out of my student loan. :)
