Power supply mod

Ok so ive got a Seasonic S12 500w and ive got a problem...Its got so many bloomin outputs...Its going in a sff build and theres far too many power cables...

Is there anyway i can whip a few of them out safety?

Well, the only way i can think of is to cut the wire a few inches from the PSU and wire them into a terminal block, keep the remains in case you need to connect them again.

A more simple method would be to cable tie the remainder and hide them in the case like most people do, but i'm sure you already thought of that.

I would advise against opening the actual PSU to disconnect them, i have no experience of this and i doubt most people do, there are extremely high voltages within a PSU, even when it is turned off, plus it would void the warranty.

The problem is that theres no room to cable tie them and put them elsewhere in the case :o

Ive already had to cut a chunk out of the case to get the gfx card in...

i dunno...ill find somewhere to stash them i guess :o
 
You can mod it into home made modular PSU. Keep the cables that you need and cut the rest, on the cut ends attach male and female molex connectors (or any othe type of connector) so that in the future you can easily attach the cut ends.
