Which way around should i mount my power supply. (Seasonic x750)
The power supply sits at the bottom of my antec 300 and the manufacturer recommends that the fan should face the mainboard.
Would it make any difference if i mounted the opposite way around with the fan faceing the bottom of the case (there is only about 15mm between the fan and the case and no grill perferations for air flow?

..so you want to mount your PSU at the bottom of the case, so that the fan is facing the bottom of the case?....

You can, but
a) ultimately a case-full of airflow is going to be infinitely better than 15mm of restricted airflow
b) why would you want to?

Have i misunderstood? :p

knew it was a noob question when i posted it.
It was just that when ever you see a picture of a open case the psu fan is on the bottom (the cases must have a grill on the bottom).
Plus the writing on the psu is upside down when the fan faces the motherboard.

I assume you mean it ends up looking like this (2nd picture in that post).

Reason is just that PSUs are generally made with mounting at the top in mind, so everything ends up kinda upside-down when you mount at the bottom :p

When in doubt, go for what'll give the best airflow :) Last component you want to overheat and die is the PSU!

oooops just had to turn my psu over after reading this thread!! stoopidly thought it was better to have it drawing in air from base/underneath the case rather than the potentially warmish air inside the case. that'll teach me to make decisions on my own lol :o
