Ok just got my power supply today, (650W Antrc True Power Trio). And decided to see if it works by just plugging it in alone with it connected to a fan (motherboard etc isnt here yet) and switched it on. Im guessing that was a bad idea, though i duno why.

Anyway it kinda took out our houses' electricity so had to reset the circuit breaker and it also sparked. But doesnt seem that hot and doesnt really smell.

Any ideas what happened? Also, is it broke? Or is it just the fuse? Can i just buy another fuse?

Thx a lot!

I may be wrong, but i'm sure that the PSU kicks into life when it receives a signal via the 20 pin connector(Green Wire). If you didn't short it out then i would think there is a problem with the PSU.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that its plugged into an adapter, which already has lots of other stuff running on it, which in turn is pluged into an extension wire that has another 4 plug adapter coming off it, all going into 1 socket hole?

So like i meant 10 plugs going into 1 socket. I dont suppose that mateters much does it?

All depends on what amps its drawing. Never a good idea to go from ext cable to ext cable or adaptor. Even so it should not have sent any power to the fans as it wasn't getting a signal.

its hard to tell you without actually SEEING the psu but yes, its possibly borked. get your plug sockets sorted it. there's no excuse for putting yourself at risk like that.
