Looking at the SuperFlower range of PSU's can anyone tell me which one I'd need for this spec?

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 9590 Black Edition
Corsair Hydro H110 280mm
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Asus Radeon R9 280X
Corsair Force GS 240GB SSD
Samsung DVD±RW

The 9590 because I want an AMD cpu that'll last me a good number of years. I'm not much good at overclocking so to have one ready done is appealing.

I assume from your question that there's a better choice?

The 4770k, faster than the AMD in most tasks yet only running at 3.5ghz.
Can be easily overclocked faster (even if its only a few hundred mhz) and will pull less power.

Yes the i7 4770K is a better choice.

Also if you hang on a bit longer, intel are releasing the new devils canyon chips on socket 1150. Reputed to run a bit cooler than current haswell chips, and a stock turbo boost of 4.4ghz. Supposed to be out in june.

What memory would you suggest with that cpu and motherboard combination? I was thinking 2x 8GB of something, I'm not sure 2x 4GB is enough anymore but I may be wrong?

Cheers, by the time I have money set aside for this that should be out.

Thank you, that's a great help. I should have just asked outright instead of fumbling blindly around the store pages. I'm completely out of touch with tech these days.

No probs, depending when your looking to order ask back and we can spec with current prices and if any offers that may pop up :D

I better ask about the cpu cooling.

Case wise I like the Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black (CC-9011030-WW) and I would like to give water cooling a try, I read some good reviews on the Corsair Hydro H110 280mm but I don't know if that's overkill? I don't want to spend more money than I need to if there's no benefit from it.

A decent Water cooler like the Corsair should keep the temps lower and your system should run quieter when stressed.

High end air coolers are in the £50 price range and you would be limited on the memory being used and possibly the cooler covering memory slots.

As your running a higher end cpu and if your budget allows then go for it, I am at some point going to put my custom water cooling back on :D

The corsair hydro units are decent enough coolers, though expensive. Their cooling ability can be matched by high end air coolers for much less. However theese coolers are quite large. And they can dictate the height of ram that you can use.

Case wise, the 540 is a great choice, very good for cooling due to it's unobstructed front air intake. Can also help to make a really neat looking system due to its dual chamber design, (aka shove all the cables in the back).:D
