Here is my system.

e6400 on a ds3 board clocked 413x8
8800 gts clocked 650/2000
1 sata drive
1 IDE HDD
1dvd/rw
2 case fans
1 artic freezer pro 7
case lights lighting up the front panel.

I had a seasonic 500w PS in this machine, worked well for about a month and then died in the middle of a game. I am going to RMA it thru the place I bought it but am unsure if 500w is enough now.

I picked up an antec truepower 2.0 500w PS friday local to get me through to the rma only because it was the largest one they had. Now, I am checking things out as its running and the antec is fairly hot and fans are running. If this was your setup, would you get a bigger power supply or do you think that 500watts is enough?

Thanks.

A decent 500W PSU (Such as the Antec one you have) is more than fine for that system. However if it was my system I would have got a Corsair 520W but understandably you got what you could to get your system working again- put it this way, it's better than some 600W pile of generic junk anyway :D

Seems odd that the Seasonic just packed in like that though  First time I've heard of one just going.

get a 600 watts, my 480watts runing at max to power my rig, Tagan PSU fan is the loudest fan in case! that says something, normally Tagan is silent

Makes you wonder what sort of PSU's the likes of MESH and DELL put into their systems, when you hear of all the probs people have with brand name ones

My mate was using an Enermax 485watts I think and he installed a 8800gtx, OCUK siad he needed a new PSU HAHA it worked fine.

Well it did until the next time he tried it and it wouldn't boot.
Looks like 500watt is around the minimum some will work at less others will need a bit more.
