power supply question

are you sure? i have just looked at the power supply and the only possible 8 pin combination is a combinatoion of 2 4 pin ones and they say "cpu" on them? is there an adapter from a 6pin to an 8 pin? or from a molex? etc
Thanks

From the review below looks like it only has 2 pci express 6 pin adapter for gpu's, but may have an adapter supplied? on the OCZ website the 700w & 850w has the required connectors.

What is the rest of your spec, 1010w seems slightly overkill! :)

The 1010w GameXStream comes with the following connections 1x20+4Pin ATX 1 x 4-pin/8-pin (supports double CPUs/supplies stable voltage) 4 x PCI-E 6 x 4-pin peripheral 2 x 4-pin floppy 6 x S-ATA
As you can see there is not much future proofing here, with no 8 pin PCI-E and no 10 pin connector, although it is not too big a deal, as adaptors will probably be made available just as we see with Molex to PCI-E(Although these are now supplied with the package at time of press)
With 6x Molex and 6x Sata, you should have more than enough connections for most. Let us move on and see how this PSU does in my main rig as a 850w struggles to cope with it. I will explain more in testing.

yeah im going to have to buy an adapter unless they come with the graphics cards, the computer will have a e8500 a dfi x48 mobo and most likely a gtx280 the psu was bought a while ago as it was on a special offer! At the time gfx cards wernt using 8 pin so bit of a silly buy really!

If most 6 pin PCI-E cards still come with a molex to PCI-E adapter, I am sure that an 8 pin one will come with an adaptor too :)
