Hi all!

I was just wondering about my PSU - its 650w though I dunno the brand as its a prebuilt system and can't see the make. I was wondering if it's enough to power the following without any issues-

Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 1.5v
4gb RAM (4x1Gb) 2.2v
AC Freezer 7 Pro
4x Antec 900 Case Fans on High
1x 500gb 7200rpm SATA HDD
1x 250GB external USB IDE HDD
Logitech G11
Logitech G5
8800GT x2 overclocked (700/1500/1010)
1x SATA DVD drive
1x IDE DVD drive

It seems a lot to me for just a 650w, and occasionally I get windows lockups (like, once every few days randomly, somtimes while gaming sometimes while idle) - I just wanted to rule out any possibility of my system needing more juice?

Another factor that lead me to belive this is that it runs fine with one GFX card enabled, but with SLI on I get said random crashes.

If it does sound like PSU, what wattage would you recommend to cover above system with no problems?

I asked a similar question recently and the guys helped me out with it. Your graphics cards will be the main problem as 2x8800GTs draw around 530 Watts alone, it may just scrape being ok but im not sure what wattage the rest of the components draw. Id wait and see what more "in the know" people have to say about it but i think you could do with a new one.

Hm well if the PSU is enough juice, then maybe I have a faulty gfx card, as I said it only happens with SLI on

I'll go research on ye google :p

Sorry i edited the above post, made a complete mess up of reading your first post :) I had only taken into account one GFX card, apologies

Well as I said I can't see the brand/info and I don't want to be taking it out to be honest. IIRC from the system info page on OC it was a Corsair one, though the page isnt there anymore so cant be certain :(

If it's really important I might have a go at getting those numbers when I get home today maybe

i would have thought your psu would cope fine with your setup, how long have you had it for?

3 months now. It handles SLI fine with a lesser clock, 3.4ish, though at 3.6 it doesn't seem to like it. Makes me think the PSU cant give enough power to both, but can one or the other. BTW definitely not a CPU stability issue as it runs perfect with one gfx card :/
