I think my psu has died, I tried switching my machine on today and it was lifeless. I tried the psu in another system and the same, won't power on, just completely lifeless :(.

Power supply dead right?, pretty sure it is, but guess I just want a second opinion before I get ready to rma it. Nothing I could have overlooked? No life from any machine it's hooked to= dead psu :(

Onto another question then

It was a corsair tx650w powering

phenom 2 955
4gb ram
5850
+ various optical drives and hdd

If I changed the 5850 for a 7800gtx, would a seasonic 430w be ok with powering that? or would it still be too much?

Thanks.

Assuming you looked st the fuse in the plug then it does sound faulty, especially as you tested in another machine.

Try linking pins 13 & 14 on the main atx connector with only a fan connected to a molex.

Fuse in the plug is fine. I used the same plug and lead on the seasonic and that was fine and powered the 2nd machine. Uplugged seasonic, plugged in corsair and then no life :(.

Haven't tried it with just a fan + link, as I've tested with another machine and same. Would have thought the fan+link would be just test it if you didn't have another machine available or is there another purpose to it?

Other machine is also a lot less powerful, only a single optical drive + hdd, a ti4200 and an athlon xp, so a lot less of a load on it and nothing :(.
