hey guys im new to custom building an was looking to upgrade my current systems (xps 7100) power supply but cant seem to find any information about power supply size demmenstions get hight width ect so im wondering are they a standard size to fit most systems if anyone could let me know how it works would appricate it :)

thank you for the link im looking to upgrade my graphics card from a radeon hd 5450 to a geforce 560 but require a powersupply upgrade too an am worryed about everythink fitting properly

Why do you think you'd need a PSU upgrade?

Check the PSU you have.. the specification should be listed on the unit itself. Check for total output supply.

my current power supplys output is 460 watt the graphics card im after requires an outpout of about 450 watts so my power supply would just be enough to run the graffics card but then there wouldnt be enough output for everythink else so hense the upgrade :)

according to the gforce website the minimum system power requirment is 450 watt or am i missing the understand of this ?

That would be for the whole system not just the GPU, besides, they almost always exaggerate to be on the safe side. Also, cheap PSU manufacturers will quote peak power usage while the good ones quote sustained maximum usage.

The measured load maximum at Anandtech for an average system running a GTX 560ti is 333W

The card its self's requirement is 150 watts. Its bassicly saying that you will need atleast 450 watts for all your other parts. i.e they manly mean some low end shop pc but if your using high end stuff you would need more

you'll be fine with the dell PSU they use quality parts, i've got an optimax 755 sitting under my desk as a second pc and have upgraded the cpu and gpu and it's running like a dream :), just out of interest what cpu and other bits are in your system also how old is it?

its a dell xps 7100 runs a quad core procssers 4gb of ram but looking to upgrade that too its about 2 years old give or take
