Power supply recommendations

Hi

I have a HP Pavillion 500-242ea desktop computer and recently upgraded the graphics card to a Gigabyte Radeon RX 460 Windforce card and I'm pleased with it's performance.

After installing Fallout 4 recently I have started to experience a few problems, notably with the power supply getting quite hot. The current power supply says it can handle 260w at 50c and 300w at 35c.

Can anyone tell me if the Super Flower Golden Green HX 350W "80 plus gold" power supply would be adequate?

I've now got around to looking at the existing power supply and it's non-modular. It has one motherboard cable with a connector which has 2 rows of 12 wires. It also has two other cables with connectors for the CD player and the hard drive. There is a spare connector on each for an extra CD and extra hard drive.

The power supply I'm looking at (Golden Green HX 350W "80 Plus Gold") is shown as having 1 x 20+4-Pin ATX12V/EPS12V. I can't see enough of the web picture to tell if that is the same as mine. I've taken some pictures but can't upload them.

Many thanks for the confirmation. As luck would have it Overclockers has the Golden Green HX 450W "80 Plus Gold" for the same price as the Golden Green HX 350W "80 Plus Gold".

Needless to say I've placed an order for the 450W one so will see how it goes when it arrives.

Thanks. It arrived very promptly and seems to be very quiet and running a lot cooler than my original PSU.

The only problem I had was that it was slightly longer than the original and wouldn't lock into the front retaining clip. At present it is being held in by the 4 rear screws. Is this a problem and should I try and support the front edge?

At the rear end of the PSU there is a small ledge which will probably provide a little support. The cable tie idea may be a good solution.

I decided to support the front edge with a cable tie loosely around the cable bundle so I feel that will do.
