I just bought a Thermaltake Dr Power II Universal ATX Power Supply Tester.

I have one question which looking online does not seem to answer.

To test the PSU I can connect all the sockets, the 24 Pin ATX, SATA, PCIE etc, however can I just take the 24 Pin ATX for example and test that whilst leaving all the other sockets connected to the computer?

i cant see why not. after all it doesn't stress test a PSU it only read the voltages on the sockets.

obviously it will turn the PSU on but I cant see anything bad coming from it

Thanks for the comments.
I was just trying to save time by not unplugging everything from my computer.
Then again if I am going to something I might as well do it properly.

After seeing this I have bought one for work. It will save me so much time. HP PSU's have a terrible habit of going boom but still showing LED activity on the power LED so for £20 its priceless.

I know I could use a multimeter but for regular use fora specific issue you cant go wrong.

Unlike the old Antec tester I had that TT DPII tester does put some load on the PSU as its has resistors inside it.

I am sure the instructions tell you to connect some HDD's if you want more load.

A multimeter will not do the same as that tester.
