hi ive got a tagan tg 420-uo1 power supply 22a 12v but i want to buy an 8800gt now ive seen on sever al forums mimimum spec is 400w 22 a on 12v
but all the manafacturers websites seem to say i need 450w+ 26a on 12v.anyone know if i can run an 8800gt on my psu as i cant afford to upgrade both gfx and psu

It should just about cope although that will partly depend on what else you have in your system. Manufacturers tend to over-estimate the requirements since they can't be sure that everyone will have decent PSUs so to be on the safe side they will aim higher on the basis that a poor 550w PSU probably is on a par with a decent 400w in terms of overall power supplied.

system is amd 64 4400+ dual processor
k8n sli (939 chipset)mobo
2x1g crucual ddr3200
win xp pro
im currently using an 8500 gt 512 i just want a temporary upgrade till i can get a new system later in the summer.
i just dont want to buy a new card and not be able to use it tell i get a new computer

They are all built to a reference design so in theory they should all perform equally and clock as far, the differences come in the prices, coolers, bundles or warranty. In your case I'd just pick the cheapest 512mb one you can get your hands on. :)
