I have just about finished getting all the bits ordered for my new build and i'm a bit stuck with the psu. I have a Corsair 430w V2 builder which should run everything fine but something is niggling in my mind to change it. I have done many calculators and came up with a max of around 380w inc the possible overclock and unlock of the cpu.
I have a few quid left if need be but funds are tight so if the psu is more than up to the job it can be kept.
My spec so far

AMD Phenom II 960T (Will hopefully unlock this to X6 and run around 3.6ghz all going well)
Gigabyte 880g micro atx board
HD 6850 Gpu
8GB DDR3 1600mhz 2x 4gb
3 sata HDD's
DVD Rom drive
Corsair CX430 V2

So will it cope is the question, I'm sure it will but my mind is dying on me tonight after hours of studying and at my age it's taking it's toll.

Cheers

Guru3D say a 6850 needs a 450W PSU, but here test system is a socket1366 overcloked thing.

I'm half tempted to just run it all up and see what happens, whats the worst that can happen :D. All the calculators I have tried come in at under 400w even when the cpu is clocked to 4ghz and unlocked.

I have about £50 left which I was going to use to top up my steam account but can use this for a Psu if needed...

Decisions I hate them, somebody decide for me... :D

Thinking of holding back the kids pocket money and going for this one..

BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W, Seems to get good reviews and is £59.99... 40A on two 12v rails should be more than enough even if I upgrade to a 6950/560ti at some point down the line..

The BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W has two 12V rails of 28A and 20A (as stulid said) but a maximum combined 12V output of 40A (as MOOGLEYS said).

Well out of curisoty and maybe a bit of stupidity I have installed everything using the cx430 to see what happens.

And well it runs fine tbh. The cpu is unlocked to 6 cores running at 3.6ghz, gpu at stock and the psu barely gets warm.

According to my power meter which is plugged in at the wall before the pc running prime and furmark i'm drawing 276Watts from the wall so this should be well within tolerances of the psu..

I'm going to give it a good testing today and see if anything happens but so far it seems to be ok, even my crappy 95w only motherboard seems happpy with the extra cores unlocked and a 600mhz overclock...

Ahh spoke to soon it seems something is throttling the cpu. Under burn test the temp is hitting 65.c and the Cpu then drops down too 960mhz then back up to 3600mhz and then back down again the temp hovering around 61-65.c.
I think this is likely to either be my board as its only a 95w board and according to cpu-z my max tdp is 165w..:D Also I'm only using a freezer 7 until my new cooler arrives so I doubt that helps much either.
The Psu gets luke warm with no noticeable fan speed increase..
