Hi guys i need your help!

I was thinking about PSU that i can in next year connect to 3x 290X

as of now I'm looking at

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-182-AN

vs

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-025-SS

So i was thinking about getting one of this PSU's but i don't really know what to pick, for now i want it to run 2x 290X and later on in 2014 3x 290X

will 1000W be enough? or should i go with the 1200W

Also what's the difference between Plat and Gold in $$ = Electricity bills or it only affects on how much power you'll get let say 1000W will give me 980W cause it's platinum and gold would only give me like 950W.

So what would you pick?

Thank you.

Difference between gold and platinum rating is minor. My gold 750w psu gives max 732w, platinum gives around 740w. I assume you would like to overclock those cards, then seasonic makes more sense. You can also check evga, it makes 2 models, 1200w and 1300w, both haswell compatible. Dont buy 1500w one, it does not support haswell.

I'd probably pick the Antec as it's a Delta OEM and only £10 more.

Efficiency wont affect how much wattage the unit can supply, a 1kW PSU can supply 1kW.
It's just whether that 1kW is at gold efficiency (88% = 1136.36W) or platinum (91% = 1098.90W), assuming 100% load.

At 1kW, 4 Hours use per day the platinum would save you about £7 a year.

You dont need haswell compatible really its only a sleep state that you can disable, unless your gonna leave your pc idle for long periods its not a big loss.

Given the GPU's saving a couple of watts on idle is irrelevant

"Before we proceed, we should be clear about one thing: you don't, strictly speaking, need one of these "Haswell-ready" PSUs to build a Haswell system. Corsair told us that it "fully expects" motherboard makers to let users disable the new low-power power state in the firmware. Cooler Master went even further, stating that, to its knowledge, "all mainboard vendors" will disable the new low-power state in their boards by default. In other words, you may never encounter any issues even if you pair a Haswell platform with an incompatible power supply."

I would go with the Seasonic, one of the best brands, 3x 290x and a CPU could pull over 1,000W on full load. It has a solid 12V rail which outputs 1248W so it keeps you 200W+ overhead.

GPUs don't scale well after 2 cards, why would you need a 3rd card any way?

yea but i wanna put WB's on all of them and I might go for the 3rd one when TitanFall releases with max graphics it might need 3x 290X i think but for Crysis 3 or BF4 or Cod:Ghost 2 - 290X are all i really need.

I'll go with "Seasonic" i read a lot of good things about it.

It really won't. Save the money for watercooling bits or a bid SSD or perhaps a better/more monitors

PSU wattage is quoted at the business end, from the wall there will be a higher draw, efficiency dependant.

The Antec PSU is made by Delta, and Delta are the best of the best for desktop PSU's.

There is a reason 8 pack uses them and gets world recording overclocking results!
