Couldn't see a section for PSU so posting here :

MY RIG

FX-6100 4.47GHz on Air
2x4GB DDR3 1333mhz
2x MSI R9 270
1x SSHD 1x HDD 72,000 Rpm
6x Case fans

Running on a 650W In-Win PSU

If I upgrade the CPU to an FX-8320 and Change the Air cooling to an H80/H100/H105

Do you think I can get away with a 650W (I really do hope so) I just know its mighty close or shall I buy a watt o metre to be certain I have the head room

Yeah, no problem.

Those 270s will draw less than 150w each. And an overclocked 8320 isn't going to consume the remaining 300w

I'd say you're cutting it fine with OC's and your PSU efficiency (I know efficiency doesn't accopunt for power draw, just a general rule I like to use to ensure safety) The AMD 8***'s do tend to use more power than there rated for. :)

Ive have used a few of these power supply website that you put in what you have and it tells you the watts , im over on 650w on some

Those calculators are pretty poor, they assume massively worse case for everything and add an extra % (for some reason)..

Its really hard to tell exactly how much power draw you'll get but like I said I think 650W will be pushing it!

Well if SLI Titans only draws 650w from the wall (so allow 10% for wastage on the way through), you're going to be fine with what you have

See here;

Nvidia Cards draw less power than AMD cards do (not that im saying a 270 draws the same as a TITAN)..

And AMD CPU's draw more power than Intel CPU's (on the test rig for those cards) do too.. in an overclocked state.

If this were my rig, I wouldn't risk it.

Only about 100w more than an overclocked 3770k, as used in that test I linked

And remember that the power draw on those 1st gen Bulldozers, such as OP's, was insane. His overclocked fx6100 is likely to be pretty close in consumption to an overclocked FX83

See here, for example;

And here; (note the fx83 @ 4.0ghz matches the fx-81 @ 3.6ghz)

AMD R9 270 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 270 Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

I would go for a 750w like this, its beautiful, modular, and the best PSU out now I would say.

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £79.99

Don't really wanna buy another PSU this is only couple months old.

Jayztwocents using a lot less than I thought :

And this guy is only using a 600W with the CPU I want

It should be fine looking at those videos, I personally just don't like the idea of pushing it too close.
