Just recently had a power outage while my PC was on & now it won't post. PC was plugged into a surge protector
I have checked the PSU by jump starting it with a paperclip and that works fine.

I then took everything out of the Motherboard apart from 1 stick of RAM and the CPU and still it will not turn on. I have tried different RAM sticks in different slots and that has achieved nothing.

I have green lights on the motherboard and have tried using the onboard power button (which lights up) and that does nothing aswell...

Next step?

I'm sure you can try and sue the sure protector company as its faulty and didn't do its job, good luck, their minted.

Yeah all the fans turn on when I jump start the PSU using a paperclip in the 24pin. Nothing happens at all when I plug the 24pin in and try to boot

Just tried with another PSU and still nothing. Will leave off and unplugged overnight and try again in the morning. If nothing I will change CPU's to see if that works, failing that I don't see what else I can try.

Motherboard is over a year old so no chance of replacement but where do I stand on proving the surge protector didn't do its job?

If it is the motherboard is gone and I have to get a new one, will I be able to just carry my HDD across? Or will it require a re-install

I'll be moving from an AMD CrossHair II (Nvidia 780a chipset) to an AMD CrossHair V (AMD 990fx chipset)

Monitor is working mate... Got it working now, not sure what it was :/
Took it all apart and added 1 piece of hardware at a time and it ended up being fully assembled and working. Strange one that
