Power up for a second before powering down

Hi,

I was was upgrading my cpu and now when i power up the PC, it only powers up for a second.

I've tried changing the cpu back and still same thing. Any ideas whats wrong?

Only time I've experienced this, I had a short circuit in one of my own mods.

you probably bust it!! reseat / reconnect everything, disconnect everything that's not essential to get a picture on the screen... try with one ram stick then the other... did you attach the CPU fan to the right header? (I think my system power off when I forgot to attach the fan)

Tried disconnecting as much as i can and same thing. Im thinking the motherboard is gone now

I'd guess you've perhaps bent a couple pins and they're now touching?

This is almost certainly a short circuit - there's a short to ground and the power supply is cutting off.

It is most likely between the case and the motherboard, but there is a chance it's in the PSU.

I had this issue on a build years ago and it was a faulty power supply circuit on the motherboard. As said above, check for shorts; make sure you've not dropped a screw between the motherboard and case.
