Just updated my rig's power usage (haven't done it in a while). Thought the info might be useful for others.
Specs:
Mobo = DFI P45
CPU = Core2 E7300
GPU = ATI 5830
RAM = 2 x 2GB DDR2
Sound = X-Fi Soundcard
HDD = 2 x 160GB 10k Raptors
HDD = 1 x 64GB Crucial SSD
PSU = PCP&C Silencer 610
System is installed on a HighSpeedPC TopDesk test station. I just can't be bothered cramming watercooling into a case.
Plus it makes it easier to throw fans on / tweak hardware voltages during benchmarking sessions.
Pump and Radbox are driven on their own supply, so not included.
CPU @ 4Ghz and 1.44V
GPU @ 1Ghz and 1.25V
Fully loaded using Othos (Small FFT) and MSI Kombustor (unlocked Power Draw).
Total measured @ Socket = 380 Watts
PSU Efficiency @ this load = 83% (i.e. this happens to be its peak efficiency)
A similar rig less heavily overvolted will use less.
Suggestion is to double the system usage and buy a PSU of that power because that is where the PSU is most efficient (approx. 50% - 75% load).
