at home, you?
recently bought a second hand powerbook g4 faulty, when booting up, the apple logo comes up as usual, then the spinning circle, then the screen flicks to a small fuzzy band of colour about half inch high, in the middle of the screen instead of showing the desktop, so i plug a dvi monitor into it, and that works perfect, i have tried all the settings on the vga (normal panel) to get it to work, only 1024x768 was close, but the bottom of the screen isnt viewable and is off to the bottom, yet on the dvi display as a cloned desktop, it is perfect, any suggestions as to wether this is hardware or software?

I'm not aware of any PowerBook users on here, most Apple forum regulars are on Intel kit.

Try asking on Macrumors.
