powerbook G4 problem...

hi guys i just had my powerbook crash on me and it wont reboot... i have been to apple today and they ended up suggesting some third party software from prosoft (data recovery II) i am in the process of now recovering my entire partition as it has become completely non-mountable now... =(

it is looking like i can recover the files as the software picks up all the file structure however it seems to be stuck at the moment... does anyone have any experience with this program? if so does it just need a length of time to do its thing? should i worry if it seems to be stalling?

please reply if you can with any suggestions as i need to recover the data big time!
