Just getting a top-end Powerbook for Music for my iphone, anyone had any experiences with the PowerbookG4 and could recommend a good stand for it

Cheers guys

I've got one, which I got back in 2004.

I'm running Leopard on it these days, but only really use it as a laptop now (I was using it as a Desktop replacement for a couple of years). Certainly not as quick as it used to be anymore.

My biggest issue with the machine is that when Tiger was released, upgrading to it caused one of the memory slots inside the machine to die. So if you had RAM in both slots, you lost half of it. Apple did run a free repair service for this, as it involves replacing the motherboard inside it, however much to the annoyance of many people it was on a very small serial number range.

There is still an attempt at a class action lawsuit against Apple, not really sure what is happening with that anymore. Pretty annoying really.

No, it remains the same.

If you upgraded from Jaguar to Leopard, I'm sure it will cause the same problem.

Still use my top end Powerbook G4. Serves me well with a new battery :)
My 12" 1.33GHz Powerbook is still doing okay with the original battery, in all honesty. Great little machine. Only issue I've had is when the HDD died a couple of years ago, but that was easily swapped out. Have upgraded the RAM to 1.5GB though, which has been necessary over the years... Only got Tiger on it - don't think there's much point in upgrading to Leopard/beyond if/when I upgrade.
