Im sorry if this has been posted a hundred times, I've read most of the old posts and tried almost everything so I really need to make my own thread.

All just bought:
Specs: Corsair 650w
MSI 790fx-gd70
Phenom 955
OCZ Platinum 2*2gb

Graphics: Powercolor 5770

So anyways, I just got this 5770 card when I RMA'd my 5750. The 5750 probably wasnt faulty but at least I got my money back so I could get a better card. This card still have the old problems though.

I've not had any 2d-crashes with the new 5770, and most 2d-crashes seem to come from bad ram, unstable ram, or low gpu clock in windows. Anyhow, I havent had any 2d-crashes with this new card yet.

I thought I had fixed my 3d-crashes when I installed the old 9.12 drivers (instead of hotfix, and of course with driver sweeper in between) because Modern Warfare 2 didnt freeze anymore. Then I could also play Street Fighter 4 for several hours but now today finally the graphics crashed again.

What I've tried on my new 5770: 9.12, 9.12 hotfix,
setting pci-e freq to 101, changed pci-e power cord, disabling HD Audio. Uninstalling CCC.

What I havent tried on this new card: Switching pci-e slot, using a pci-e power cord adapter. (I hardly believe there would be any problems with a just bought Corsair 650w) Older drivers than 9.12, Underclocking or Overclocking for that matter. (I have a good chassi with good air flow so my card is only around 60 under load)

Any ideas guys? First post on here btw.

Could try an older driver, maybe the one on the disc that came with the card and wait for the new 10.1's later this month? If taht sort's it you know its a driver issue?

Also, after using driver sweeper on my system I had to do a full reinstall as it wouldn't accept any driver, I notice people have mixed results??

There, ****, had my first crash in youtube fullscreen now.

I guess that could depend on me not having CCC anymore so my windows clock is very low.

The issue still remains however and I bet it has to do with the drivers. I just wont believe that a SECOND card is faulty and since my motherboard was DOA I just cant believe that any other of my parts are faulty either, no one is that unlucky.

I wouldn't believe it either. My first step with your situation would be to take a stick of ram out (and if problems persist, take that one out and put the other in) to try and detect a RAM problem (this was what caused my problems). Run prime95 for a couple hours (or run IBT) to see if your system is stable, as this will also help detect any stability issues that may be causing your problems. If your system is rock solid, then there are a couple other fixes for you to try. Let us know how you get on with that first though.

You had both 2d and 3d problems?

I'll run Memtest to check my RAM again.

You think the RAM could be faulty on delivery or is there something wrong with the BIOS RAM settings? Like.. should I try to put them in 2T instead of 1T if I get any Memtest errors?

Simon

Yeah, pretty much rock solid.
Ran memtest over night, OCCT for an hour, and Prime95 for 3 hours.

I must admit that when I got the vertical stripe-crashes it was because my RAM was overclocked and didnt run stable, so I changed them back to stock value (which to my disappointment is 1066 and not 1333mhz) the vertical stripes stopped.

Whats next? Try old drivers or wait for 10.1?
