Hi all
I'm new here and looking for advice.
Running vista, 850w psu and an ip35 pro mb. Nothing is overclocked and the bios has been cleared.
I ordered a 5850 from here 2 weeks back, initially I had the blue screen 'driver failed' issue, managed to fix this using a driver scrubber.
The card then ran fine for 2 days and performed well.
On the 3rd day 3d applications started to have issues, lots of graphical corruption and eventual crashes. Or the driver has recovered type messages.
Thinking this may be due to overheating I used afterburner to increase the fan speed and to lower to stock speeds. (ati interface wouldnt allow the manual fan speed to work for some reason.)
Lowering the stock speeds stabilised things for a while but then started to happen again.
I cleared the bios and installed various driver versions, I also tried the other PCIe slot but the problems kept occurring.
At this point the PC wont even boot, once past the post screens the monitor remains active (as if it recieving a signal) but nothing is displayed.
I have had a look and there seems to be a lot of trouble with the 5000 series, I think I just got a bad card but would appreciate any advice.
Regards
J
