thinking of selling my 7800gt to get this card do you think its worth it?
PowerColor ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI

I did exactly that and was well pleased ( well upgraded, but I didnt sell the GT as its going in another pc )

My opty 144 rig ( with 1Gb>>2Gb ram upgrade also) jumped around 700 points and that was with a GT not oc'd to a stock X1900XT to give you an idea

I'm looking at getting one too, but I'd be going from a 6800GT (AGP) ...so I hope the difference would be very apparent.

Is there any differences between the manufacturers of the x1900xt cards? I fancy a Sapphire as I have found memories of my old 9800XT :D

Definately worth it, theres even ppl happy with the x1900 who have gone from 2x GTX's in SLi, its a cracking card. :)

@Seirrah, any manufacturer will do, as they are all the same cards, as they are all based on the referance design, only differences will be the pic on the cooler on what software you get. :)

well just come from my local pc shop and benchmarked the x1900xt in 3dmark 2005 and i got 10k not bad.

Not a bad score at all, did you have all sliders to the left, and no AA/AF on, as i think x1900's get around 11k, althought it depends on waht CPU you have i suppose. :)

SPUDMASTER Going from the x850xt if you still have it will you measure both cards and the length, width and height of the cooling cowl please.
I have the x850xt and Im concerned that the x1900 wont fit past my Zalman passive cooler :(

ok being playing call of duty 2 for the last 2 hours now and it looks fantastic everything set to max!
just need to get rid of my xpertvision 7800gt now

all sliders to the left? you mean image quality settings in drivers? if so all was set on max quality but aa and af set to application controlled. 3dmark set at its default settings. and my cpu is an opty 170 at 2.8ghz.

No probs AnastieByte, will get them measure after my tea :) though my x850xt is a HIS and came with an artic cooler rather than the stock heatsink.

Yeah you set all the image quality settings to the left, and have AA/AF set as Application Controlled, your score looks about right, the_box's score looks a little low as they should be hitting around 11k. :)

oh right, well thats cool then :)

AnastieDyte, got the measurements for you. The x1900 is 23cm long and about 3.5cm deep with heatsink. the depth is 100% accurate but near as i could manage to get it with all bits in my pc. Sorry forgot you asked for wide aswell, can get the later for you if you still need it though :)
As for the x850 it measure just less than 19cm long and was about 3.5cm deep but with a arctic cooler not stock heatsink.

Thanks Spud. How long is the heatsink or if easier how long is it from the end of the card at 23cm to the start of the 3.5cm (depth) heat sink?
Cheers

any ideas as to why im not reaching 11k on 3dmark 2005?

All depends on settings mate. make sure everything is set to "performance" in the CCC, and set AA and AF to "application controlled", make sure "Vsync" is turned off. Have you overclocked your card. At stock I get 10557, and at 689/779 I get 11156 in "05". Theres a bucketload of reasons why you're not hitting 11K, but run a few games and see how the performance goes with them, thats the important thing. With these benchies, they're only a sort of ballpark figure to give you an idea what the system is running like and if any improvements/tweaks can be made.
The again, if you're into willy waving then you need the highest score possible, lol.

I've got the powercolor and it seems like a nice card. A big step up from my x800xt-pe @ x850xt-pe. Initial indications are that it clocks quite well too. Currently at 702/801 at 1.4v
