hi

i am wanting to rma one of my 290x as it's faulty. i emailed powercolur and they said i would ne to pay to get it sent there (which i understand kind of) and then a service cost of €20 which i don't understand, the card is under warranty so why do i need to pay?

Sir, Good day

This is Mark from TUL, I will take care your question.

If you want send to our servicer in NL, we need charge service cost €20, If you agrees to pay I will send PayPal notice to you directly.

In this case you need to pay for freight to send your card to NL and we will pay for the freight when we send back to you.

Replacement will be sent out within 7 working days after we get the defective and service cost €20 and we will test it at 4k monitors..

If you have any questions for myself directly, please feel free to ask me.

BR,

Mark

If the card is Faulty and under warranty you should not need to pay a penny in my view, however i had no dealing with that brand in question.

What is the fault in question?

this is what i sent first:

Hi

I have two 290x pcs+ cards for about 8 months, one of them is faulty since day 1 due it crash's to either a black screen or just freezes with the image still displayed but frozen, randomly in games at 1080p res but i didn't rma it because it was very random and it would work for days without crashing. Since i've upgraded to a 4k monitor and when i game at 4k res it crash's to either a black screen or just freezes with the image still displayed but frozen, everytime either within 1 - 2+ minutes..

I tried running the cards separately gaming at 4k res and the crashs it only happens on the faulty card, the other card works fine..

If i underclock the memory on the faulty card from 1350mhz to 1125mhz then it doesn't crash at all either in crossfire or separate.

The problem is I got it from xxxxxx and they are abit awkward when trying to get replacements.

If i rma it back to you (powercolur) how long will it take to get a replacement? Also if you have to test it will you do it at 4k?

If you buy anything that is faulty from anywhere, you should not be charged anything on top. That looks a little naughty to me. If it was found to not be faulty, I could understand but if it is indeed faulty, they have no right to charge you.

If they are only 8 months old then you should be going through the retailer anyway not the manufacturer. It doesn't matter how awkward they are, it's under a year old so they need to deal with a RMA.

the problem is i had a asus 290x card from that retailer and the card was artifacting in games and when i underclocked the core it was fine, so rma'ed it to the retailer and sent them prove and then they made out it's fine nothing wrong it, then i asked them how did you test it they just said they just used a benchmark, so i asked them to run a game but they said no they're not allowed. so i had to pay £10 to get it swopped for a powercolur. i knew the asus card was faulty baecause i tried it in a different rig and it happened in that...

if i send this one back i know 100% they won't test it right and they will make out it's fine when it's not..

Return it to retailer and also inform your cc provider/pp that the retailer originally charged to swap a faulty gpu to a working gpu.

For the first two years law says you go back to retailer. They then deal with the RMA with their supplier.

It's rare you find a manu who will deal with the public which is why I like Gigabyte.

Just return it to your retailer it's their headache.

No...

it's e_____uk

Ah, the company that has a leaderboard in its RMA office of the CS that has the highest success rate of rejecting RMA's.

They and SCAM are two companies that will never see the colour of any of my monies.

im either thinking buying another 290x from here (ocuk) then sort out what to do about getting the faulty one rma'ed then after getting a replacement i'd sell it, or just wait and hope i can rma it without issues.....

which option better?

I don't suppose you bought it on a credit card? If so you could send the card off to them and if they say it's not faulty look into a chargeback.
