Hi there, please can you help, I have installed Power DVD 9 and it seems to play my blueray DVD of "In The Line Of Fire" but there is only picture and no sound.

Well when I say no sound, there's sort of like only one channal coming through, like I can hear background music but not the actors talking?

And I remember when I first installed Power DVD 9 it said something about not being able to play audio for multi channal and gave me an option to purchase some sort of multi channal audio codec online?

But I crossed it off, and cant remember what it really said, do you know what it said? and can you help me?

Thanks in advance,

EDIT: Just to let you know, all other films work fine on my system, am using windows 7, all updates (not that there was many to install), all drivers installed, my sound card is audigy 2 platnium x, its old but works. Music and films all playing fine, its just bluerays, am using powerdvd because thats the only program I could find that played blueray dvds.

SkScotchegg:confused:

the retail version of powerdvd only supports 2 channel sound. only the deluxe versions support 5.1 and 7.1 etc

sounds like its not downmixing to stereo properly so youre getting no center channel feed.. you may have to adjust your sound settings accordingly.

Technically speaking, if you have optical out and an amp that can convert the signal, you can get 5/6/7.1, but yes if you want PowerDVD to do the work the basic version down-mixes- perhaps it is doing it wrong.
