Hi all.

My PowerDVD 7 Ultra has worked fine for ages. Now it won't play any HD-DVDs.
When i put one in the drive, the autorun loads up but the only option is to open as a file.

Then when you try to play it in PowerDVD, it starts to spin up, but then PowerDVD just closes.

Can anyone help please?

I have updated the drive and software fully.

Blu-rays are working fine.

Nope nothing like that.

Just reinstalled Windows and it is still doing it
I watched a blu-ray about 3 days ago fine.

Can't believe i just reinstalled windows and nothing changed :(

It is PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra that was bundled with my LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blue

In My Computer, it looks like HD-DVDs are just being recognised as files, whereas Blu-rays are working.

Just tried a DVD and that works fine too.

OK, does anyone know of a decent piece of software that will play HD DVDs so that i can rule out PowerDVD as the problem.

I am thinking that it is a driver issue as it knows there is a disk in there and you can see what is on it, it just doesn't seem to know what a HD-DVD is

Hmmm. Now using ArcSoft TMT 3, the HD DVD is working.

I wonder why it isn't working with PowerDVD even though nothing changed and i even reinstalled it off of the disk

Don't think the sound is working using TMT3 though

Edit: Says that the Dolby codec isn't available in the trial, and obviously pretty much everything uses Dolby so i won't be able to listen to it until i buy the full version, correct?

Thanks for the tips. Tried pretty much everything that has been suggested (restores etc).
Just installed the trial of TMT3 and the HD-DVD worked so i know that it was PowerDVD 7 thats the problem. So just going to shop around for TMT3.

Can i only get this direct from ArcSoft and it the highest package the only one that has full support for everything (TMT3 Platinum)

Thanks
