So Ive finally pieced together my first system (a lot of you guys have probably noticed me asking the most stupid question here the past few days).

I followed, pretty much step by step, the guide at the top of this forum and occasionally the manual.

So I attempt to boot, fans begin to turn (in case/gpu/psu and processor cooler) some LEDs and noise ect. But yet no visual.

First of all it may be because I am connecting wrong. I am using a MALE TO MALE SVGA/VGA MONITOR PC TO TFT which is connect to the mobo.

If i have a GPU(7850), should I not be using a newer cable and connecting the GPU to the TV - is that where i'm going wrong? Perhaps a HDMI Cable?

Or - should it work the way its set it, and there is most likely another problem with my set up?

Thanks!

try with hdmi,a lot have been having issues with dvi and vga,try with onboard hdmi and 7850 hdmi, one of those should give a display, then you might need to set pcie or peg as first initial display in the bios

Have you installed the Drivers for the card? I'm guessing you have an output on your motherboard so use that until you have installed the drivers. Go on the website you brought it from, find out the make and model, Google it and download and re install it.

I think he's already using the output on his motherboard even though he has a graphics card installed.

I'm going to remove the gpu and try and run with the vga from mobo - should this work?

Onboard wont work with a GPU installed unless specified on the motherboard I believe. Why are you using onboard anyway instead of the GPU?

What CPU are you using and what mobo do you have?

If its an Ivybridge one, on some of the 'older' mobos they need a bios update to work on them

Dont have a HDMI cable as of yet. Looking for one that can connect TV to GPU if anyone can spec?

I'll swap to gpu once 1. Windows/gpu drivers are installed and 2. i have hdmi cable:(

Haven't read the entire thread but there's been a few reported problems with the Z77. Try removing the GPU and use the onboard. A BIOS update fixes this apparently.

Checkout the Motherboard section.

Just an update, removed the GPU and booted only to face the following message on screen:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media

Anyone know where to go from here? Is this an error or simply part of the progression:(?

Have you installed an OS?

If not then boot from the OS installation media and get it installed. If you already have done then check the boot order in the BIOS settings.
