I'm considering buying a new PC, for now lets say the budget is ~£800 for Memory, Graphics Card, Processor, Motherboard, Power Supply and any other bits to help with quietness (fans, case etc.). At the minute, I'm not looking for new hard drives, optical drives or a sound card as I'll take these from my current PC.
Basically, I'm looking for a near-silent gaming PC (if possible...), and it would be great if you could push me in the right direction.
I had a play myself and this is what I came up with:
Asus P5K-E Wifi (Intel P35)
Intel Core2 Duo E8400 (Wolfdale, 1333 FSB, 3.00 GHZ)
OcUK 8800GTX 768MB
Crucial Ballistix 4 x 1GB PC2-8500 (1066MHz)
Corsair TX 650W Power Supply
NZXT Hush Classic Series Case
Zalman CNPS9500A-LED CPU Cooler
Zalman VF1000-LED VGA Cooler
I'll probably wait to see what the Geforce 9 series conjures up before going for a 8800GTX. The other question I have was about the motherboard - is it worth going for a better chipset, or for a Nvidia chipset so I have the option of SLi if I ever decide to go for that?
Also, have I picked the right sort of fans, power supply etc. to get a quiet but cool PC?
Cheers.
