My mum has asked me whether I could find her a radio receiver that was 'powerful'. What she means by this, is that she listens to this radio station which apparently isnt liked much by a local (not local to where I am)politician, and this politician is rumoured to be using devices to create interference in the frequency of the station, since legally they cant shut it down.

As a result the reception of this station on her standard receiver is variable in quality and sometimes not there at all. The station has changed frequency several times in the past.

Is there a particular kind of receiver that would be affected less by this interference and stand a better chance at tuning in with better reception?

Her other requirement is that its 'digital' in that she doesnt have to turn a wheel to tune stations, rather something that displays the actual frequency in a liquid crystal display and you can key in the numbers.

Thanks in advance!

Lol, somehow I don't think that is the case as that would be illegal.

The only way for better reception is bigger aerial I'm afraid.

In fact if you live in a poor reception area just use a analogue tuner, that way you can still pick it up- you'll just get more hiss. If it's digital you won't receive it unless the signal is quite high.
