I'm currently running a TP Link 200mbps powerline adapter from my router downstairs to my pc upstairs. Up until today it's been plugged into the wall in the study, we have 84mbps broadband, and in that room i got around 33mbps. Then i moved my pc into my bedroom today, and now I'm only getting 15mbps, and I've switched over the CAT 5 cables to CAT 5e to attempt an improved performance but still no succes.

Is there any way i can improve upon this sudden drop in speed? It is not plugged in to an extension or 4 way.

You could try going round the house unplugging things to see if something is putting noise on the circuit. If they are on the same ring, you should get good speed. Mine works great but I did have some slow speeds at the start and I unplugged things and it went away, unfortunately I did it en mass and didnt figure out what was doing it.
