Powerline adapter help

Hey guys,

I bought a pair of On networks 200mbs powerline adapters the other day.

Just set them up, on into my virgin hub and on into my computer upstairs.

The power light is green, the connection to ethernet light is green but the powerline connection light is red??

In the manual it says if this light is green, then it is connected. If it is off, then it isn't.

I do get a connection though it, all be it >1mb on a 60mbs line.

Any ideas on how to improve them?

Ok ignore all that!!

The light was red because it was saying its receiving signal, just not very well.

I had it on an extension lead which pretty much caused the problem, plugged straight into mains and now im getting good speeds, faster than wifi.

Use lanspeedtest to test the network speed. It does it via a network share

On a 200mbps powerline you will probBly only get 40mb speeds you need. 500mbps to get faster

I had a 'gigabit' pair, their actual speed was around 10MB/s which is slower than a 100Mbit connection.

Ditched them and drilled a hole in the ceiling instead, now I have gigabit LAN ~80-90 MB/s, limited by my hard drives
