Powerline Adapter

I very much doubt it as a Powerline adapter with a switch would make no sense.

Why would you want to switch them off in the first place? The power consumption when they're in use is already low, once they drop into standby it's very low.

It will be used for my HTPC upstairs but only use it twice a week so prefer to switch it off when not in use

If I connect the powerline adapter to a power block, will it reduce the speed?

The Powerline adapters I had delivered this morning to have play with only consume 1.5W on standby. That's about £3/year for the pair.

If I connect the powerline adapter to a power block, will it reduce the speed?

Probably not, but there's a very easy way to find out.

Due to the size of the adapter, I doubt it will fit very well on the block.

Best trying both sockets on the wall plug to see which gives best results. Also in my experience it's best to try and make ethernet cables find a path as powerline adapters tend to give up after a year or too (symptoms include hotter than the other adapter, increased ping times, lower throughput, loss of connectivity requiring a recycle/power off).
