So where?
Okay, so I have powerline throughout the house.( ethernet versions)

I also have a wi-fi extender ( netgear Wn1000rp) which is the main trouble maker..drops connections , weak signal pickup from the router.
House is old with very thick walls.

I cannot get the Extender to distribute wi-fi across the whole house.

So are there powerline adapters that broadcast the wi-fi signal far better?
I have seen adapters that have 'antennae' on them, but are they mainlining the bandwidth and broadcasting or just acting like an extender?

Or is my only real option to use an old router as an accses point for the wi-fi?

You can get Powerline adapters with wireless access points built-in. They receive their signal over the Powerline connection and then broadcast via wireless.

It's basically the same as plugging an normal access point into a standard Powerline adapter with an Ethernet cable.
