Powerline adapters crashing router

Anyone else had any issues with Powerline adapters crashing their routers?

I've added a couple of TP Link Nano AV500 adapters to my network and imediately had issues. The router seems to randomly reset itself at the kernel level (logging "Kernel warm reset" in the logs and resetting the clock), the WiFi is all over the place, and the internet drops in and out and the speed falls through the floor.

I've tested using Netflix on my FireTV. The FireTV is connected to the router over WiFi, which is then connected to the BT Fibre modem. In one of the LAN ports on the router there is a connection to a powerline that then connects to the powerline upstairs where my PC is. If I disconnect the powerline and play something on Netflix its fine, streaming at full speed. As soon as I plug the powerline in it drops the speed, and then buffers and eventually falls over. If I unplug the cable to the powerline it all comes back fine.

I've reset the powerlines and repaired, and renamed the network but nothing. Has anyone else had issues with powerlines breaking routers?

Hi,

I have been using TP-Link AV600 Gigabit Powerline Adapters for quite a long time without any issues and one adapter is plugged into my system upstairs and the other into my HH5 router downstairs and the only issue I have come across is the reduction in my download speed on infinity 2 while using the powerline adapters.

I noticed the difference in speed when I connected my laptop directly into the HH5 and discovered a 20mb/s increase in speed compared to the powerline adapters, so I am going to run a cat 6 cable from the HH5 upstairs to my system.

Did some more investigation and it looks like the powerline network screws with the internal LAN controlled by the router. I've moved the adapters so the powerline network is just the bridge between the fibre modem and the routers WAN port and so far alls working. The problem with this setup is that my whole internet connection for everything in the house is running across the powerline network so is running considerably slower than my line will Max at :(.

But until I can figure out why the powerlines mess with the LAN is the best I can do. Its a rented house so unfortunately running cables isn't really an option.

Running cables is always an option, am in my second rented place and have a cable running from the living room to my games room (had it in my first place too), just along the skirting board/up and around a door being held in with cable clips.

When you pull them out no-one can tell (and their too low to the carpet for anyone to check).

30m Cat5e is also cheaper than powerlines if the wiring isn't very good.

While I'd be fine with that, it fails the GF test :p.

I may overrule her and just do it.

Its the standard Plusnet router. I tried it with an old Linksys one I had lying around too and it was the same. Its as if the Powerline adapters are bombarding the router making it slow and struggle (opening the web page to administer it as slow and often failed to load) until it gives up and falls over. Sort of like the Powerlines are DDoS'ing the router :p

Yep. I've also used the utility to check for any other networks and given mine its own unique name and re-paired and it still has issues.
