about fed up with the htpc being connected to the router using a trailing cable

what sort of cost am i looking at to be able to stream from server full quality blu ray?
up to 40GB per hour i guess
ideally i would like a REAL rate of 200Mbps (over 60GB/hr)

also, can you connect 2 pcs via 2 pugs to one atnthe router end?

Even AV500 adapters aren't going to give you much over 100Mbps.

IIRC the streaming requirements are well below 100Mbps anyway. I can certainly stream Blu-ray quality 1080p via my old model WD TV Live that only supports 100Mbps.

Force the existing wired connection down to 100Mbps (assuming it's running any faster) and check that the streaming still works. If it does you'll probably be okay with AV500 adapters.

You just need one adapter at the router, and then an adapter for each connected device. If you have multiple devices in the same location you can obviously add a switch.

i decided to go for the netgear av500 as they were being sold for 25 for a pair from a well known retail shop.

seem to be holding well, should have got one more as the normal price is much higher!
