Hi Guys,
Anyone use Powerline adapters ? Thinking of getting a couple for myself. Are they any good ? Do they make any noticeable difference ?

They are good in newer houses with cabling, old houses dont always work too well but sometimes are ok. Best buy some and try, if it works then its a great thing to have. I'm thinking of getting some too, several friends use them, and the Devolo 1200+ Wifi are the ones I would get. They are pricy but work fast and create another wireless network too for you to connect to.

The problem with Powerline is it's largely irrelevant what other peoples experiences with them are like as the performance is ultimately affected by the electric cabling in your house. For some they will be brilliant, for others they are likely no better than wifi. Depending on how many runs you need it's worth considering having ethernet ran as well, sometimes it doesn't cost considerably more than good powerline kits.

Not as good or reliable as ethernet but not everyone can run cables through walls etc. If you get some don't plug them in extension leads. If you want to use an extension lead with them then get ones with a socket on them so you can plug other things into them.

I've been using them on and off for a while. My current place's power is a bit weird - I had to set a password on mine because it would connect to a pair that my Neighbour owns! The other issue I had was a vastly reduced speed because the Router was on the old part of the house and my office was in an extension.

Luckily the router was a couple of meters from a socket on the extension so I was able to get around that. If this place wasn't rented, i'd wire it up, but powerlines are a decent substitute in the meantime. Much better than Wireless at least!
